Homological
methods play an important role in many mathematical fields. In the
representation theory of algebras and groups the power of the homological
methods is well-known, as was shown, for example, by the Auslander-Reiten
theory, tilting theory and Rickard’s Morita theory for derived categories. To
introduce these useful tools to our graduate students, as well as to obtain new
information of advances in the homological representation theory, we shall
organize a series of activities on the theme “Homological Methods in
Representation theory ”.
This
is the first of the series of the activities. The seminar is a short course on
hyperhomological algebra, in which the usual homological algebra of
modules over algebras will be extended to complexes over
modules.
The lecturer of this course is
Prof. Dr. Hans-Bjorn Foxby, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, who is one of the
experts on the subject and related topics. (Of course, his interests are not
only this subject.)
The program of the seminar (preliminary)is as follows.
