题目:An introduction to Navier-Stokes equations, I.

Abstract: This is the first part of a short course as an introduction to Navier-Stokes equations. The second part will be given in Fall 2013. In the first part, we will mainly present material on stationary incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. Efforts will be made to make the lectures accessible to undergraduate students. We plan to go over the following topics. 

1. The linearized stationary problem. This includes a review of some vector calculus and a proof of the Helmholtz decomposition theorem, existence and regularity results,the spectrum of the linear problem, the theory of hydrodynamic potentials.

2. The nonlinear stationary problem. This includes some existence and regularity results for boundary value problem, and will introduce some basic open problems in two dimension.

Abstract: We will mainly present the Liouville theorem for incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in dimensions two and three, and address some applications and some open problems in this subject.
