Abstract: We will first present the classical result of Jean Leray on the existence of solutions to the non-homogeneous steady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in a two dimensional domain, when the prescribed boundary velocity has zero flux through each boundary component. The existence result under the (weaker) necessary condition that the total velocity flux through the boundary is equal to zero has been proved only recently. We will make exposition on these works. The corresponding problem in dimension three remains open.
