Abstract: The Navier Stokes equation is the main equation in the mathematical description of incompressible viscous fluid flows. Despite intense efforts of mathematical workers, the two most basic problems--global existence of strong solution and uniqueness of weak solution-- both remain widely open. We will briefly review some of the known results, and then explain some recent developments, which seem to provide new perspective on the uniqueness problem of Leray-Hopf solution to NSE.
